Dubai Police promotes a new installment system without interest to pay traffic fines
Motorists with fines can pay interest-free installments over a period of 3, 6 or 12 months
Motorists who have violations are encouraged to take advantage of the first international smart fines installment service from Dubai Police to settle their dues.
Dubai Police is promoting the first international service to pay smart fines in installments, by urging motorists who suffer traffic violations to pay their traffic fines in installments.
Turning to social media, Dubai Police said erring motorists have the option to pay their fines in installments, a new traffic payment option.
Traffic fines in Dubai can be paid under an interest-free and easy-to-pay plan. With credit cards, the fine can be paid in installments without interest.
In promoting the service, Dubai Police reminded motorists of how the service allows them to apply for traffic fine installments within two minutes.
This service allows vehicle owners who suffer violations to pay interest-free installments over a period of three, six or twelve months.
These payments can be made through credit cards issued by the following banks:
- Finance House
- Commercial Bank International
- Standard Chartered Bank
- Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank
- Emirates NBD
- Emirates Islamic Bank
- Dubai Islamic Bank
- Commercial Bank of Dubai
- First Abu Dhabi Bank
Conditions to be fulfilled
To benefit from this service, there are some conditions that one must fulfill according to Dubai Police:
- The value of fines shall not be less than five thousand dirhams for individuals, and twenty thousand dirhams for companies and institutions.
- You will have to pay 25 percent of the total fines.
- Installments are issued for a period of up to 24 months and according to the value of the traffic violations.
- If you wish to defer the installment, a fee of 100 dirhams must be paid. If the applicant is a company or organization, the fee will be 200 dirhams. You will also need to pay a knowledge fee of AED 10 and a AED 10 innovation fee for each check. The application must be submitted 15 days before the installment date.
- The first payment starts after 30 days and the period between each payment should not exceed three months.
Steps to follow
- Apply for the service on the Dubai Police website or open the “Fine Installment Service” on the Dubai Police smartphone app.
- Enter the vehicle number, traffic file number, or driver's license number.
- Choose "Direct Debit Service".
- Fill in your personal information, including the bank account number and Emirates ID number.
- Agree to the terms and conditions of the direct debit service.
The request will then be sent to the Central Bank for approval and you will be notified in case of approval or rejection along with the reasons.
Motorists are not allowed to sell or transfer vehicle ownership until all payments have been made.
Anyone who defaults on installment payments faces a two-year ban from the fine annuity system, effective from the late installment date.
